As a citizen, I would like to lodge my protest against this unlawful and unwarranted act of the police
KARACHI: I was saddened to see some 25 odd peaceful citizens arrested on the evening of February 5. As I was with them for an hour or so, I can confirm the following: 1) They were not anti-state, anti-party, anti- religion, anti-law or anti peace citizens; 2) They were not breaking any law or blocking any road, as they were sitting next to the dead-end of the road where containers were blocking the path leading to the CM House; 3) If at all — it was the police that were blocking the road with containers and should be held accountable for creating difficulty for the public; 4) The police took no action when some 2,000 danda bardar goons parked themselves at the Sheraton side of the CM House, and actually blocked the road.
As a citizen, I would like to lodge my protest against this unlawful and unwarranted act of the police. One gets an impression that the war on terror is being fought against the peaceful citizens of Pakistan.
