Doctors in danger

Letter February 04, 2015
I request the officials concerned to please bring killings and abductions of doctors to an end

KARACHI: The Pakistan Medical Association observed a countrywide strike on February 2 in order to protest the kidnappings and killings of doctors. The main agenda behind this strike was to urge the government to provide financial aid to victim doctors, their families and also allow doctors to carry arms for their protection.

Three days have passed and the government has paid no heed to their demands. Also, government officials have not yet taken any step to stop the ongoing criminal activities against doctors in the country. Amidst all this, on February 2, patients all across the country suffered badly as there were no doctors to treat them.

Through your newspaper, I request the officials concerned to please bring killings and abductions of doctors to an end. I also request doctors to stop contributing to the suffering of their patients.
