The power crisis caused by the collapse of poor infrastructure is adding to the suffering of the people of Balochistan
KHUZDAR: Almost the entire province of Balochistan plunged into darkness when four transmission lines between Sibi and Mach were destroyed in a thunderstorm. It is well-known that the province is facing many security and human rights challenges. The power crisis caused by the collapse of poor infrastructure is adding to the suffering of the people of Balochistan. The duration of load-shedding has recently increased from 14 to 16 hours and in some remote areas of the province, there is almost no power.
The Quetta Electricity Supply Company (Qesco) team has not started repair work on the four destroyed transmission lines despite the lapse of many days. According to Qesco, 355MW are available against a total demand of 1,650MW. We request the government to take measures to do something about the power shortage for the sake of the better future of the province and country.
