Ideologically-correct education

Letter November 27, 2010
Interpretation of religion is controlled by mullahs and they mould society in the manner that benefits their ends.

LAHORE: This is with reference to Naveen Naqvi’s article of November 26 titled “The downside of technology and the internet”.

The latter is only an extension of our real lives. It is the way that Pakistanis behave and act in real life and which then flows in, so to speak, into the virtual world.

The problem is in our attitudes and viewpoints and this can only be cured through ideologically-correct education. And then there is also the matter of what our children learn at home.

I would say many mothers in our society actually spoil their children and do not teach them things that are needed to know the difference between right and wrong and issues like respect for women. As for religion, its interpretation is controlled by the mullahs and they seem to mould society in the manner that benefits their ends.

With all this background, no wonder women find it hard to live in a society such as ours.
