The Sindh government should make the installation of fire-extinguisher in buses mandatory
KARACHI: On January 11, 2015, a serious bus accident took place on the road off the National Highway in Karachi.
The bus caught fire but the fire brigade arrived too late at the site of the accident for it was being sent from the Landhi area of Karachi, which is located at quite a distance from the National Highway. It should be noted here that the Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) is located closer to the site of the accident. Although the PSM also has the facility of fire brigades to extinguish fires, the management of its fire department seemed to have completely failed when it came to sending the fire brigade swiftly to the site despite being situated closer to the link road where the accident happened compared with the Landhi area.
The Sindh government should make the installation of fire-extinguisher in buses mandatory in order to safeguard the lives and properties of people in such events.
