Our controversy-prone cricketers

Letter January 12, 2015
Our cricket should not depend on a few players as history suggests that any calamity can befall any of our players

KARACHI: As the 2015 World Cup approaches, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) must not ignore the controversies that our team has faced in the past. In the 2007 World Cup, Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif were dropped because they did not clear a dope test. Mohammad Amir and Muhammad Asif could not become part of the national team in the 2011 World Cup due to the spot-fixing saga.

Now, Saeed Ajmal and Mohammad Hafeez have been stopped from bowling due to their suspect actions. The PCB needs to start creating a back-up reserve of players. Our cricket should not depend on a few players as history suggests that any calamity can befall any of our leading players.
