Need for more security

Letter December 31, 2014
Smartphones are a great substitute for many other devices and all Karachiites should have the right to utilise them

KARACHI: With the exponential growth of the telecommunications sector and the introduction of 3G and 4G technology, smartphones have taken Pakistanis by storm, especially in the urban areas.

However, unfortunately, Karachiites rarely get to enjoy the perks of owning a smartphone for an indefinite time as the safety of their invaluable possessions can only be guaranteed within the walls of their houses. Flaunting their new smartphones is just impossible for many, as one can’t ever know when a motorbike is brought to a halt and a gun shoved to their side depriving them of their months of savings. Smartphones are a great substitute for many other devices and all Karachiites should have the right to utilise them. I urge the law-enforcement agencies to take strict action against the crime of mobile snatching by ensuring enhanced surveillance in all areas.
