KARACHI: This is with reference to Nasim Zehra’s article of November 7 titled “Time to repeal the blasphemy law”.
My question to all of those championing Aasia Bibi is where were they when Dr Aafia Siddiqui was sentenced to over 80 years in prison by a court in America? Also, what would they say about the argument that many other laws in Pakistan are also misused — should we repeal all of them? Or should we strive to improve the workings of our justice system so that miscarriages of justice do not happen? Also, what do these people, who clearly want a secular Pakistan, say about laws in Europe that prohibit anti-Semitism — shouldn’t they be repealed as well?
