LAHORE: Must we show gory and graphic scenes of animal sacrifice on Eid days on national television? There are some in this country who believe that they do not need to personally get involved in the actual slaughter of the animal in order to fulfil their religious duty. By showing this once-a-year ritual on television, we may be sending a wrong signal: that such brutality is acceptable in everyday life as well.
The media needs to show some responsibility by at least warning viewers in advance that a graphic scene is about to be shown. Is this too much to ask?
