Government and its priorities

Letter December 03, 2014
Govt always seems ready to talk with TTP, but has never bothered to talk with disenchanted Balochis, Sindhis

ISLAMABAD: The state of human rights violations and abuses in the provinces of Sindh and Balochistan is pitiable. Murders and kidnappings continue in these provinces, which cause unrest and strikes. It seems as if disappearances and targeted killings are matters of no concern for the state any more because people have become so used to such occurrences.

The authorities concerned should start looking into such cases and try to put an end to them; otherwise, this epidemic of targeted killings and kidnappings may spiral even more out of control. The government always seems ready to talk with the likes of the TTP, but it has never bothered to talk with disenchanted Balochis and Sindhis to resolve their issues. The security of civilians comes first and the government must prioritise accordingly. It seems that animals in the West enjoy more rights than humans in Pakistan.
