Our government must be appreciated that it rightly read pulse of a promising economy and is trying to befriend Germany
LAHORE: For any country, having an impressive, productive and useful foreign policy is all about gauging the pulse of the relative strength of countries at the international stage. Germany is a developed economy and has immense investment potential. This is, of course, an incredible achievement for Germany since there was a time when the country was war-ravaged and at the mercy of donors, the world’s ruling powers and their ruthless economic policies.
We must also remember that Pakistan was also one of the donors to help revive the German economy in the 1960s. The revival of the German economy offers many lessons about the cooperation space for other countries to tap. Our government must be appreciated that it rightly read the pulse of a promising economy and is trying to befriend Germany to foster a productive economic relationship. Of course, optimum results can never be achieved through a single visit by Nawaz Sharif, but the gesture to initiate such an arrangement opens up the vistas of future success for both Pakistan and Germany.
