Unneeded transport projects

Letter November 14, 2014
The government does not seem to be aware that the transport system in the twin cities is quite adequate

RAWALPINDI: I am a resident of Rawalpindi. The Metro Bus project in Rawalpindi and Islamabad has completely disturbed our daily lives. While driving on Murree Road, there is a lot of traffic, which makes our travelling extremely time-consuming. This is quite annoying for the commuter as it causes much anguish and delays.

I know that this new project aims to benefit us, the locals, in some way or the other. But it is not wise to initiate transport projects in this manner. Some intelligence is needed before a project is planned and executed. The government does not seem to be aware that the transport system in the twin cities is quite adequate. I often wonder why it does not allocate its resources for resolving the energy crisis and for the betterment of education.
