In my opinion, there should be two drivers on every vehicle travelling long distances
KARACHI: I write this letter in light of the brutal accident near Khairpur, which is just a new knot in the string of horrifying traffic accidents that have occurred in Pakistan over the past two years. I think that the government needs to enforce traffic laws very strictly. Although, the sleep-deprived driver does share some blame in this incident, the onus of this tragedy also falls on the shoulders of the already burdened government.
In my opinion, there should be two drivers on every vehicle travelling long distances. This rule should be enforced and adhered to very strictly. Furthermore, roads should be made safer so that any tired driver can park their car and take a power nap. Proper vigilance, speeding limits and snap checks should be implemented. An important measure is also to introduce a service, which allows passengers to register speedy complaints against the driver. The National Highway Authority should have vigilant staff at check posts in every district so that drivers know that they are accountable to very strict people. I hope some of these steps are taken immediately.
