Rights of minorities

Letter November 08, 2014
I would request the authorities to take appropriate measures to make this a reality

LAHORE: Pakistan is a country where discriminatory laws and violence against minorities are major concerns, according to several international human rights organisations. As a Pakistani citizen, I will say that it is most unfortunate that the government does not seem to be doing anything to protect and safeguard the rights of minorities. Unfortunately, this has been the case with all governments in general and the situation has now reached a point where many people from the minorities want to leave the country.

Protection of citizens, including those who are from the minority communities, is constitutionally guaranteed that the government is bound to ensure. I would request the authorities to take appropriate measures to make this a reality.
