Lack of seating space at KU

KARACHI: With an approximate population of more than 80,000 students, the University of Karachi is the biggest higher education institution of the country. Yet, as a student myself, I am dismayed to be admitting that the university is overwhelmed with several problems. One of them is the unavailability of proper seating facilities. The infamous ‘lobby’ area of the faculty of arts is the biggest example of this problem.

Aside from some brick boundaries, there are no benches or seats for the students to sit on while they wait between their classes. Students can be seen sprawled on the floors and the grass, which provides for quite an uncivilised scene. Not only is this very troublesome for the students, especially the females, who are more than often, quite uncomfortable, but it also portrays an undisciplined picture of the university.
