We hope that the chief minister of Punjab would use some of his qualities towards improving the education sector
GUJRANWALA: Allan Bloom says, “Education is the movement, from darkness to light.” Education is the initial step towards the development of a nation. When we talk about the education system of Pakistan, we all are well aware of how pathetic and poor it is. According to a Unesco report, the number of children out of school in Pakistan is 5.5 million.
Punjab is considered to be a developed province. When we talk about the education system of Punjab, however, it is nowhere near the desired level. The Punjab government has taken different so-called initiatives for the promotion of education, like the laptop scheme, distribution of solar lamps and Danish Schools. These steps are only good for PR purposes and getting public sympathy against political rivals. But the reality is that since 2008, not even a single public sector university has been established in the province, which shows the interest of the government in the education sector.
We hope that the chief minister of Punjab would use some of his qualities towards improving the education sector.
