Charging people some money, at lower rates perhaps, will not deter them from coming to see the Tests
KARACHI: Even though the Pakistan cricket team has not been performing well for some time and has disappointed many, it does not mean that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) should not charge money from spectators who come to see the Test matches that the national team is playing in the UAE. Though spectator turnout in Test matches has been dwindling, people still come to see the game for entertainment. Moreover, Pakistani expatriates living in the UAE are always eager to support their team. One is sure that despite the consistent defeats of their team, Pakistanis will show up during the Test matches between Pakistan and Australia and later during the upcoming series against New Zealand.
As Pakistan itself has not seen international cricket since 2009 and the UAE has become our home ground, the PCB should not let go of this opportunity to earn some much-needed revenue. Charging people some money, at lower rates perhaps, will not deter them from coming to see the Tests. Only children should be exempted from paying for coming to watch the longer format of the game.
