A matter of compensation

Letter November 15, 2010
The preliminary report into the Airblue crash has still not been completed and released.

BLOOMINGTON, IL, US: With reference to Samia Saleem and Sehrish Wasif’s report “Margalla Hills tragedy: aftermath of the crash” (November 14), the preliminary report into the Airblue crash has still not been completed and released despite the fact that the cockpit voice recorder and the black box were retrieved.

Surely, one needs to wonder whether the fact that the chairman of the airline happens to be a sitting MNA is one reason why this is happening. His colleague in the PML-N, Ahsan Iqbal, who often takes the government to task on corruption issues, should perhaps explain the party’s position on this matter. As for the Civil Aviation Authority, it’s already-dented reputation will continue to take a beating as long as this delay continues and the airline doesn’t compensate the families of the dead passengers.
