Pressure on nuclear programme

Letter November 15, 2010
Pakistan has enough nuclear weapons to destroy a country the size of India a couple of times over.

BANGALORE: This is with reference to a report in your newspaper by Kamran Yousaf titled “Pakistan under renewed pressure for nuke freeze” (November 13).

Pakistan has enough nuclear weapons to destroy a country the size of India a couple of times over so what is it so worried about? America, for that matter, has enough nuclear weapons to destroy the whole world many times over. Pakistan claims it needs them against one "threat" — India, but it presently should have enough to deal with that threat. It boggles the mind that it should risk international isolation for further developing its nuclear weapons programme at a time when it needs resources to be diverted to flood relief and rehabilitation effort.
