If administrative units are required, then they must be created in whole of Pakistan in accordance with uniform norms
ISLAMABAD: This is with reference to Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s speech in Karachi and his slogan “marsoon marsoon, Sindh na daisoon”. The people of Pakistan voted for Zulfikar Ali Bhutto because he gave a call for change, tried his best to provide relatively good governance and gave his country a Constitution, which promised equal rights, justice, security and opportunities to all citizens, irrespective of their caste, creed or ethnicity. He also laid the foundations of nuclear deterrence, which today provides us with credible deterrence against external aggression. It is also a fact that unlike those who claim to be his political inheritors, there was no major financial scam during his tenure.
Citizens of Pakistan paid back their debt to the memory of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto by voting for his daughter. Unfortunately, the insatiable greed of those who succeeded him damaged the PPP and today, it stands discredited, being reduced to a regional party because of the myopic vision of its leaders. The recent five-year tenure of the PPP has witnessed state-owned enterprises being driven to near-bankruptcy and insolvency under corrupt cronies chosen to head them. While Zulfikar Ali Bhutto advocated a federal, united Pakistan, where all provinces enjoyed equal rights, but those who succeeded him advocate their break-up into several administrative units, while insisting that Sindh cannot be dealt with in this manner.
May I ask Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, why Sindh’s boundaries alone are sacrosanct and those of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Punjab are not? If administrative units are required, then they must be created in the whole of Pakistan in accordance with uniform norms.
