OSLO: Whether Imran Khan has achieved by his dharnas what he wanted to, is a matter of one’s opinion, but he sure has proven himself to be a good agitator. I am not sure whether someone possessing such a quality can make a good prime minister. I believe that the top position in the PTI should be held by Shah Mehmood Qureshi, who is far more suitable for this role.
Firstly, unlike Imran, he belongs to the south of Punjab, where people nurture a sense of deprivation. Secondly, he is a gaddi nasheen, with plenty of following and support in Sindh and areas around the Seraiki belt. Lastly, Qureshi has had a stint as foreign minister. Hence, he can be suave and diplomatic when needed, unlike Imran, who kills a fly with a hammer and is vocally aggressive against his political opponents in the public.
