The new measures will hit most people who are already under a heavy tax burden.
LAHORE: This is with regard to your front page report of November 11 on the federal cabinet’s approval to impose a reformed general sales tax as well as a tax to finance the flood relief effort. The new measures will hit most people who are already under a heavy tax burden.
My question to the government is that why doesn’t the government reduce its budgetary support to state-owned organisations, something which costs as much as Rs300 billion. Also, why doesn’t the government reduce its size by cutting down and eliminating certain ministries that are clearly not needed, in that they already exist at the provincial level? Furthermore, why is there no tax on agricultural income?
