Distributing wheat packaged in such a way in areas where there is already a food shortage is not wise at all.
ISLAMABAD: The government’s insistence on procuring polythene bags for wheat and other grains’ storage in different provinces seems abominable when there are confirmed reports that such synthetic packaging destroys the quality of wheat and other food grains. These bags block ventilation which is essential for the freshness of the grains. This leads to early spoilage of grains, especially wheat, which consequently pushes farmers to sell more wheat than what is actually required in different provinces.
Distributing wheat packaged in such a way in areas where there is already a food shortage is not wise at all. Effective and judicious regulation of wheat packaging needs to be ensured by the governmental bodies which oversee the distribution of wheat.
