Toy missiles no answer to Israeli crimes

Letter August 05, 2014
The Islamic world must unite for Palestine. Meanwhile, Palestinians should stop experimenting with toy rockets as well

NEW DELHI: The way the besieged Palestinians are being butchered by the Israelis has generated enough enthusiasm in the US and Europe. Mere condemnation of Zionist crimes in Gaza does not make any change in Israeli crime policy, nor does it make American leaders, who are busy enjoying the genocides of Muslims in the Middle East, Afghanistan and Pakistan, any humane.

Not opposed by the Islamic world in a fitting manner, Israel continues its genocidal spree in Palestine. Arab rulers and the media keep condemning Israeli but this is mere lip service. Here in Gaza, the Israeli military has been targeting innocent civilians, children, women, schools, establishments, mosques and even UN buildings — with impunity.

It has been reported that Israel attacks Hamas leaders and other Islamic leaders during their prayers so that they aren’t able to run for cover. The Israel Defence Forces say that 2,560 rockets and mortars fired from Gaza have landed in Israel since July 8, with its Iron Dome defence system having intercepted hundreds of rockets. However, these weapons are mere toy rockets compared to what Israel uses.

Can Muslims effectively fight Israel which possesses sophisticated weaponry and ammunition, with mere toy rockets? Palestine should have its own defence ministry to defend its territories and people from Israel. For this to happen, all Muslims nations should contribute liberally to the Palestine government.

The Islamic world must unite for Palestine. Meanwhile, Palestinians should stop experimenting with toy rockets as well as future of the people of Palestine. No more fire games.
