Days of killings

Letter August 03, 2014
Will there be a day in when we will take a pause from killing others only because they are not of our faith?

JUBAIL, SAUDI ARABIA: On July 30, Gaza’s Shaima, delivered from her mother’s dead body on July 26 died, thanks to stoppage of power to her incubator; another source of pride for the Israeli Defence Force. Interestingly, some Israeli politicians have been asking for a “Nobel Prize of Restraint” for the IDF. Obviously, this baby and hundreds of Palestinian children murdered in cold blood during the ongoing conflict in Gaza are not getting much attention of those who sit in the august UN Security Council.

On the eve of Eid, when people were preparing for festivities, in Gujranwala a charged mob indulged in arson, looting and vandalism and burnt down several homes of Ahmadis, killing three people in the process.

Hundreds of innocent civilians are being killed in Syria and Iraq, without getting much attention of our power brokers and leaders. Will there be a day in our lifetime when we will stop playing the God role and take a pause from killing other human beings only because they are not of our faith?
