All claims of the government to rid of the menace of load-shedding during Ramazan have not materialised.
ISLAMABAD: The energy crisis in Pakistan is not new. It has always been the biggest issue for all successive governments to tackle. The PML-N also made a lot of promises to resolve the issue, but it has failed to provide relief to the people even during Ramazan when the energy crisis and the phenomenon of load-shedding is getting more serious. It is important to notice that where, earlier, it was only one hour of load-shedding, the duration has more or less doubled during Ramazan.
All claims of the government to rid of the menace of load-shedding during Ramazan have not materialised. Power outages are increasingly frequent and all parts of the country are affected by it. Nobody knows what is going to happen with the reported projects to add more electricity in the system, as apprehensions about the finality of these projects exist, and that if at all there is a breakthrough, would the people of Pakistan afford to pay the heavy bills, which is an unfortunate tradition of the government fleecing the people by all means; as of today, they continue to increase the price of electricity and burden the people of Pakistan, all the while not bothering to ensure that the supply of power is steady.
