Please accept my appreciation for continuing to highlight the injustice done against the Ahmadis.
LAHORE: This is with reference to the editorial titled "No peace for the dead" (November 4). Please accept my appreciation for continuing to highlight the injustice done against the Ahmadis in your editorial pages.
I do not agree with one comment in the editorial: "A humane interpretation, had it suggested itself to the DSP in question, would be that an Ahmadi who accepts to be buried in a Muslim graveyard automatically converts back to his Muslim identity." This interpretation can be viewed as a disgrace to someone who lived his life with a particular belief. Instead of leaving his faith in peace (regardless of whether he was a Muslim or not) this line of logic reads as an attempt to try and fit a square peg in a round hole "by all means".
Having said that, it comes as an immense relief that your newspaper has taken the decision to not shy away from any news related to this particular community. It is about time we bring this taboo subject in the mainstream media and encourage an open debate. Thank you for giving me the hope that it might, some day, be possible.
