The subsidy rates are mostly not less than two or four rupees than regular bazaars or shops in the city.
RENALA KHURD: I am involved in local politics and contested for the seat of Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) on a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) ticket in the 2013 general elections.
I want to spread word about a few shortcomings of Ramazan bazar that is operational in my district.
Firstly, the bazaar that is located in Renala Khurd is right in the middle of the most prominent and busy road of the city. The market authorities have completely blocked one side of the road here, which has adversely affected the lives of local residents. I would like to mention that Renala Khurd has many open spaces/parks where this bazar could have been located. However, it seems that the authorities chose the busiest spot to promote their ‘political agenda’ and campaign by placing banners and paraflexes of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, MNA Ashiq Shah Kirmani and MPA Javed Alaudin, spending hundreds and thousands of rupees of public money.
Secondly, the government of Punjab is paying the tent contractor in Renala Khurd Rs3 million when the actual price is a lot less. Isn’t this a form of corruption? Could not this money have been spent on lowering the price of goods or improving the lives of citizens?
Last but not least, the Ramazan bazaar is not providing relief to the people properly. The subsidy rates are mostly not less than two or four rupees than regular bazaars or shops in the city.
