The party is quick to condemn other political parties for spewing violence. How different are its own actions?
ISLAMABAD: The PML-N government has failed to provide security to its citizens by using force to murder its own people. The violence that was witnessed on the streets of Lahore on June 17 has raised a number of questions. What kind of democracy does the PML-N believe in? Is the party simply carrying forward the legacy of Ziaul Haq? Yes, I have differences with the Pakistan Awami Tehreek and I do not agree with the views of the party chief, Tahirul Qadri. But does this mean that we shoot those whose opinions differ from ours?
The footage of the raid was astonishing. When I saw it, it seemed to be quite similar to one of those war footages from Palestine or Kashmir. By allowing the killing of its own people, the state is giving a deadly message to its citizens, which is this: there will be no security for those who disagree with the PML-N.
