Karachi Airport mayhem (II)

Letter June 09, 2014
Our army must crackdown on these terrorists. It is a now-or-never situation.

HYDERABAD: Human life seems to be worthless in Pakistan. The writ of the government is being continuously challenged by brazen attacks by terrorists, but the attack on Karachi Airport is, especially, a grave matter of concern. Billions of rupees are spent every year on security and defence, but there seems to be no effective use when we see such tragedies happen. How did the terrorists get fake ID cards to pose as security personnel and enter the premises of the airport, eventually seizing control of a highly-guarded secure area? Whether the attack was planned within or outside, is a question to ponder over.

High security facilities have been attacked before. If such areas can be attacked, then what hope is there for security in soft targets like bazaars, markets and streets? There is no room left for political expediency and talks with terrorists. Our army must crackdown on these terrorists. It is a now-or-never situation.
