Exorbitant test fees

Letter June 03, 2014
It is injustice that we, the unemployed youth, have to pay such hefty amounts, that too twice, just to apply for jobs.

LAHORE: Recently, the Employees Old-Age Benefits Institution advertised job openings through the National Testing Service (NTS). It is discouraging to note that the NTS charges a very high testing fee from the poor and unemployed youth who are seeking jobs. To appear in the first test of a single post, the NTS charges Rs900 (which is more than double of what any public service commission charges). After the test, the NTS announced that results will be announced on June 30, but at the same time announced another written test for qualified candidates.

In addition to the fee for the first test, successful candidates will have to pay another Rs900 to appear in the second test. It is sheer injustice that we, the unemployed youth, have to pay such hefty amounts, that too twice, just to apply for jobs. It seems that the NTS is becoming, or has become, another inefficient and corrupt organisation in Pakistan.
