Nandipur power plant machinery has been lying at the Karachi Port for a long period of time
KARACHI: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that because the Nandipur power plant machinery — set to be installed at a site near Gujranwala — had been lying at the Karachi Port for a long period of time, some of the material got rusted while precious equipment were stolen.
Nandipur power plant machinery was imported from China, while the Lahore Metro Bus service, comprising a fleet of 45 buses is also imported from China. It seems that the Punjab government holds the Metro Bus project quite close to its heart as when these buses landed on the Karachi Port, they were speedily shipped to Lahore, unlike the Nandipur equipment.
