Farzana Parveen and the death of the state

Letter May 31, 2014
We must all remember that things in Pakistan will never change until the mindset and attitude of our people change.

NEW YORK: This is apropos the article “Farzana Parveen and the death of the state” by Raza Rumi (May 31). I would like to say that it was a beautifully-written article. No doubt the moth-eaten political parties can’t be absolved of the burden of responsibility towards the well-being and safety of the citizens. But please don’t forget the real cause of much of the cruelty and disarray in today’s society, which is extremism, fake piety and the increasing influence of the religious figures.

We must all remember that things in Pakistan will never change until the mindset and attitude of our people change.
