Action needed in Balochistan

Letter November 02, 2010
The writer has portrayed a true image of the Balochistan government and the so-called liberation groups.

QUETTA: Ejaz Haider has done a great job in his article “Immediate action needed in Balochistan” (November 1). The writer has portrayed a true image of the Balochistan government and the so-called liberation groups of the province who have been actively trying to destabilise the province for a long time, to fulfil their personal agendas. I know that the Baloch are deprived of their rights but their desire to secede is immoral and unjustifiable.

I would like to draw attention to the fact that recently in Pakistan, the biggest ever migration of IDPs of Swat, Malakand and adjacent areas occurred due to an army operation. In these areas, millions of people have been deprived of their homes and sources of income. However, no cries for freedom have been heard from them.

In the province, the chief minister, the governor and the chief secretary are Baloch nationals. I fail to understand why they don’t take their grievances to the government on a federal level.
