No proof of perceived corruption

Letter November 02, 2010
I would like to emphasise that simply regurgitating an opinion does not make it a fact.

ABU DHABI: This is with reference to Fasi Zaka’s article, “No proof of perceived corruption” (November 2). Everyone is entitled to their opinions but one cannot make up facts. I would like to emphasise that simply regurgitating an opinion does not make it a fact.

For too long we, as a nation, have allowed popular opinion to drive our perceptions. When confronted with facts there is always this arrogant disbelief and outright rejection of counter arguments. The same principle applies to the ruling class; they have failed in their management of perceptions. This can be described as a vicious merry- go-round; we keep riding it hoping there will be a different ending, but like all other merry- go-rounds, the ending does not change. Keep writing, we need more people like the writer who will boldly express their views.
