HEC’s patience-testing behaviour

Letter May 26, 2014
No attestation facility is available at the regional offices of Karachi and Quetta.

DUBAI: I have been trying to get my BCom and MA (Economics) degrees attested by the Higher Education Commission (HEC). Both degrees were issued by the University of Karachi. To my utter surprise, I have learnt that the HEC attests degrees only at its Islamabad Head Office and in its Regional Offices of Lahore and Peshawar. No attestation facility is available at the regional offices of Karachi and Quetta. All the students of Sindh and Balochistan are at the mercy of a courier service that causes endless delays in the attestation process.

My question to the authorities is: why is it that the attestation facilities are situated in the northern regions of the country only? Why this discriminatory treatment towards the people of Sindh and Balochistan? Would anybody from the HEC like to provide a clarification for this patience-testing behaviour?
