The treatment we face at airport security checkpoints is because of the image we have in the world.
LAHORE: This is with reference to Javed Chaudry’s article “A humiliating experience” (October 29). The treatment we face at airport security checkpoints is because of the image we have in the world. In fact, it isn’t just abroad that we have this image but also in Pakistan. I have personally come across this often in Pakistan. We can, however, overcome this image and stereotype by educating our society and mobilising our media towards this. Moreover, Pakistanis have to stop being linked to terrorism and terrorist activities. By exercising retaliating steps, we can reduce such humiliating situations. Perhaps when US citizens visit Pakistan they should undergo a similar screening processes, then they might realise how insulting the entire process can be.
