KARACHI: I have done all that I can to point out a very dramatic and inhumane situation faced by Pakistani birds in the summer. Many of them die of thirst in this tremendous heat. We all are fully aware that heat and humidity ratios have risen in many countries by at least 10 degrees, signifying that the temperature has risen beyond bearable conditions. One must stop and think: if humans can’t bear this sweltering heat, how do we expect these tiny little birds to survive?
We don’t require a million dollar campaign to encourage caring for birds. Simple, considerate steps might be taken and will hopefully resolve the ascending death ratios of the lovely creatures. In my opinion, the most common examples are well-developed countries that maintain and manage complete state-of-the-art zoos for birds and continue to improve them on a regular basis. We, as responsible citizens, should also put some water and food on our roofs and in balconies for birds.
Action should also be taken by the authorities concerned and residents of our country to provide birds feeding and nesting facilities on a large scale.
