KARACHI: Mahreen Khan, in her article “Imran’s revolutionary road”(October 30) has done what many others aspire to do but fail; she shown us the real Imran Khan and she has done this by quoting facts instead of the usual rant we hear from many writers and critics. Mr Khan has been talking of revolution just like the Jamaat-e-Islami has been promising us an “Islamic revolution” since 1947. But he has been losing public support with each successive election — and thank goodness for that.
The JI and its leaders like to portray themselves as civilised gentlemen. But they are not. During the Zia regime, a prominent member of the JI was information minister and newspapers were forbidden from using any prefix such as ‘Mr’ or ‘former prime minister’ when mentioning Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. He was just allowed to be called Bhutto. This is their true face and the people of Pakistan have seen through their facade. Your article will help put Imran Khan in his proper place.
