A lax justice system

Letter May 04, 2014
Case is pending in a family court in Lahore for one year where a decision should have been given within three month

ISLAMABAD: For the  past one year, my case has been in a family court of Lahore, for which, in legal terms, a decision was supposed to be given within three months. Aside from the stress I have been through and the psychological pressures of pursuing the case, irksome visits to the court only to find out that the judge is on leave, or that owing to strikes at the court the hearing has been cancelled is really trying. I am getting tired and frustrated now.

My question to the authorities is: do I have to set myself on fire in front of court, too, to get justice? Is this going to be a norm for justice seekers in Pakistan now?
