KARACHI: At present, the gravest problem that Pakistan is facing is terrorism. It has become a headache for the federation and a nightmare for the public. Pakistan has suffered ineffaceable loss owing to a spate of attacks by terrorists. Though this is a global menace, Pakistan has borne the brunt of it.
Terrorism is destroying the country. People are dying, extremists are filling the streets, children are being victimised, doctors in Balochistan are being targeted and killed.
Karachi is also subject to terrorist activities. Bomb blasts and firings at public places are resulting in a great loss of human life. Terrorists have not spared any place. Markets, shrines, mosques, educational institutions, offices, hotels — no place is safe anymore.
As the main causes of terrorism are supposed to be unemployment, injustice, illiteracy, corruption and religious extremism, the government should take necessary steps to eliminate these problems from their roots.
Terrorism can only be controlled with combined efforts. The support of young people is needed to rescue Pakistan from the grip of terrorism.
The government must keep a strict eye on terrorists via the help of its law enforcing departments. Moreover, the army should play its part in maintaining law and order throughout the country. The department of justice must not spare any terrorist who is caught red-handed and the public should cooperate. The terrorists deserve no less than capital punishment. It is the duty of the police to intensify their investigations to stop such activities.
