A clogged judicial system

Letter April 29, 2014
A viable and vibrant judicial system has become clogged over time by case overload.

ISLAMABAD: Like India and other commonwealth countries, Pakistan, too, inherited a strong independent English law based judicial system from the past colonial masters. But unfortunately, a viable and vibrant judicial system has become clogged over time by case overload as well as poor quality of entrants in the subordinate judiciary. Thus, enforcement of the rule of law in this country has remained an elusive dream. Delayed administration of justice has defeated the very spirit of justice. It is hoped that the recently held International Judicial Conference and other such historic initiatives will have some salutary effect in unclogging the system in the country.
