People of Pakistan just don’t know the importance of education.
LAHORE: Pakistan is a developing country. That is a fact. It has been a developing country for rather a long time now. Even though we’ve come a long way, much more needs to be done. The pace of development is slower than the pace of population increase. Education will play an important part in solving this problem. After all, if more people are educated, more people can work and increase the pace of development. No matter how you look at it, education is an essential aspect of development and, for a country that has been in development stage for more than 60 years now, it is the only thing that can really help make a difference. There are 193 countries in the world. Even though Pakistan provides some of the greatest minds in the world, it is ranked 180 in literacy rate!
Pakistan has the second-largest out-of-school population (5.1 million children) after Nigeria. People of Pakistan just don’t know the importance of education; and some of those who do can’t afford to send their children to school. For some people, their children are simply ‘extra earners’ who provide income for their families. We need to show such people that education is more important and give alternatives to people who don’t have a choice. It’s the only sure way in which we can possibly develop.
