Of collective punishment and dubious excuses

Letter April 07, 2014
A city should provide equally for all its inhabitants regardless of their social or economic class.

PERRYSBURG, OHIO, US: This is with reference to Jaqueline Berumen’s article, “Of collective punishment and dubious excuses” (April 6). I would like to say that it was an excellent article. Thanks to the author for highlighting this important crisis and the ordeal that so many people of the poor strata will face if the eviction goes through. I hope and pray that the Capital Development Authority will do what is morally and ethically right.

If schooling and housing facilities are properly provided and improved upon in these katchi abadis, there would be no fear of these areas becoming breeding grounds for militant organistions. A city (especially the capital) should provide equally for all its inhabitants regardless of their social or economic class.
