PPP needs to wake up from its deep slumber, before province gets out of its hands completely and falls to extremists.
JUBAIL, SAUDI ARABIA: Sindh was once the land of Sufis and saints, but now it seems to be becoming a land of bigotry and intolerance. Incidents of religious minorities being targeted and cases of sectarian violence are being increasingly reported in the province, and it seems that the provincial government is sleeping and doing nothing. There have also been cases of Hindu girls being forcibly converted, of bodies of Hindus being taken out of graveyards and now the attack on a Hindu Dharamshala in Larkana just last week.
The patron of the ruling PPP, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, is very vocal on social media against such ghastly developments and that is a good thing, but that is all that his party seems to be doing. There is no follow-up on what he says at the ground level by the government that is running the province. Surely, the PPP needs to wake up from its deep slumber, before the province gets out of its hands completely and falls to the extremists. This is becoming an increasing possibility with every passing day.
