Us versus Us

Letter March 10, 2014
I wish he had also looked into some solutions the common man could find through laws in our books.

INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA, USA: This is with reference to Saroop Ijaz’s article of March 9 “Us versus Us”. The writer has highlighted some fundamental issues in his piece, but I wish he had also looked into some solutions the common man could find through laws in our books, which could help our leaders to be held accountable for their actions.

When we look at the current situation, we need to be very sensitive to the fact that religion has been misused to incite violence against minorities living within our state. This will hurt us on a global level where we need to attract organisations from other parts of the world to work with us. How do we eventually bring businesses or even our ‘friends’ such as Sri Lanka to even play cricket in Pakistan? We are moving in a direction where we will end up isolating ourselves if we express outrage at only some terror incidents here and there and not address the larger question of what we want our nation to be viewed as at the international level.
