Simply put, we just got lucky. It is time to say thank you to Afridi and look for new talent.
ABU DHABI: This is with reference to Asad Rahim Khan’s article titled “Still missing Miandad” (March 4). The writer has written a beautiful essay and has paid a tribute to a great player, but like everything else, all good things must come to an end and the same applies to Shahid Afridi as much as it applied to Javed Miandad. Afridi’s days of greatness are behind him. The two sixes that he hit in the match against India that we are all celebrating were shots of desperation. We could see Afridi’s irrational exuberance but no cricket timing or true Afridi power as measured by the distance the ball travelled (60 odd metres). Simply put, we just got lucky. It is time to say thank you to Afridi and look for new talent.
