Beyond communal divides (II)

Letter March 03, 2014
Many Indians are apprehensive of a BJP government led by Narendra Modi.

BENGALURU, INDIA: Many Indians are apprehensive of a BJP government led by Narendra Modi, who is an unabashed Muslim hater, coming to power. It will bring in its wake increase in the influence of the rabid right-wing organisations like the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, the Bajrang Dal and the RSS.

This cannot be good for social cohesion in India. As for Rajnath Singh’s willingness to apologise if the BJP commits mistakes, it is like saying, ‘We will first behead you and then if you say it is a mistake, well, we will say sorry.”
