Only seven per cent of girls in the age bracket 10-12 years are enrolled in schools in Sindh’s rural areas.
KARACHI: This refers to the news that the Japanese government has given a grant of Rs829 million for girls’ education in Sindh. This grant will be utilised on the basic education of girls and opening of 30 schools in six districts of the province. It is being hoped that 2,400 girls will be admitted to these schools.
Only seven per cent of girls in the age bracket 10-12 years are enrolled in schools in Sindh’s rural areas. One sincerely hopes that this project will improve the lives of girls living in rural Sindh, so that they can improve their present, secure their future and that of the country which needs them. I would like to draw the attention of former president Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to this important issue of girls’ education and would also like to request them to allocate as much money as they can to the education sector of the province and also hire the necessary personnel to set in place good schools
