It is more than a little hypocritical that we celebrate Valentine’s Day but have a problem with Hindu cartoons.
KARACHI: This is with reference to the article “What exactly is Pakistan’s ‘cultural heritage’?” (October 24). The writer raises a valid point by questioning the sanity of banning one cartoon. While it is true that to some extent Indian shows do affect children, whether they watch them or not depends on parental supervision. The government’s job is not to monitor the TV-watching habits of every child. There are bigger things to worry about. If action must be taken, then take it against the so-called scholars and leaders that call Ahmadis wajib-ul-qatal, or say that the Taliban should be supported for fighting enemies of Islam. It is more than a little hypocritical that we celebrate Valentine’s Day but have a problem with Hindu cartoons.
